The Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has released a recruitment notification for the engagement of retired government employees as Consultants on a short-term contract basis. The recruitment aims to fill technical and administrative roles with experienced professionals from various government sectors, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies, or research organizations.

Eligibility Criteria
- Retired officials from Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Universities, or R&D Organizations are eligible.
- Candidates must have experience relevant to the role for which they are applying.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have worked with DRDO.
- Candidates should have a clean service record with no disciplinary action taken during their tenure.
- Applicants must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- There should be a minimum gap of 15 days between the applicant’s retirement date and proposed date of engagement.
- Must have retired at the specific pay level as mentioned in the vacancy details.
Age Limit
Applicants must not be older than 63 years as of the closing date of application submission, which is 22nd June 2025.
Selection Process
1. Preliminary Review
All applications received will undergo an initial screening by a designated local committee to ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria and align with the job’s Terms of Reference (TOR).
2. Detailed Evaluation
A central screening panel will then evaluate the eligible candidates, considering their professional background and relevance to the role. A merit-based shortlist will be prepared accordingly.
3. Final Appointment
Candidates who make it to the merit list will receive an official offer from the Directorate of Personnel at DRDO Headquarters.
To proceed with the engagement, selected individuals must provide:
- A consent letter,
- A signed contract,
- A non-disclosure agreement,
- Any other required documentation.
Before formalizing the contract, authorities will verify key documents such as the Pension Payment Order (PPO), medical fitness certificate, and police clearance. The final contract will be executed on a ₹100 non-judicial stamp paper.
Application Process
- Interested and eligible retired officials must apply using the specified application format (Appendix A).
- Applications, along with supporting documents, must be sent through offline mode only.
- The deadline for submitting applications is 22nd June 2025.
- Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will not be considered.
Remuneration Structure
For Pensioners:
A consolidated monthly payment will be determined by deducting the applicant’s basic pension from their last drawn salary. This amount will remain fixed for the entire duration of the contract.
Conveyance Allowance:
- ₹5,000/month for those who retired at Pay Level 12 and above
- ₹3,000/month for those who retired at Pay Level 10 and 11
For Non-Pensioners:
- ₹60,000/month for Pay Level 12
- ₹50,000/month for Pay Level 11
- ₹40,000/month for Pay Level 10
Terms and Conditions
- The consultancy role is strictly temporary and is initially valid for one year, with a possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
- This is not a re-employment and does not lead to any claims for permanent appointment.
- Consultants will not hold any legal, financial, or statutory authority and may not act as representatives of DRDO in any external matters.
- No additional benefits such as Dearness Allowance, medical facilities, residential accommodation, or personal staff support will be provided.
- Consultants required to travel for official duties will be eligible for TA/DA, in accordance with the pay level they retired at.
- Standard office working hours must be followed, though extended work hours may occasionally be required based on project demands.
- Leave entitlement will be at the rate of 1.5 days per completed month of service. Accumulation of unused leave beyond the calendar year is not allowed.
- The contract may be terminated by DRDO at any point with a notice period of one week. Consultants may also resign by giving one month’s notice or paying equivalent remuneration in lieu.
Important Notes
- DRDO retains the authority to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.
- All decisions taken by DRDO regarding the recruitment will be final and binding.
