Vacancies are distributed across departments including Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, and others.
The exact departmental distribution may vary between the Puducherry and Karaikal campuses.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualifications:
- Professor:
A postgraduate qualification (MD/MS or equivalent) in the relevant discipline from a recognized university. Additional academic and research achievements, such as publications in indexed journals, are expected. - Assistant Professor:
MD/MS or equivalent postgraduate degree in the concerned specialty with a minimum of 3 years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution.
2. Experience:
- Professor: At least 14 years of teaching and/or research experience in the relevant subject, out of which at least 4 years should be as an Associate Professor.
- Assistant Professor: Minimum of 3 years of teaching and/or research experience post qualification.
Note: Experience must be in recognized medical colleges or institutes of national importance.
Pay Scale
The posts are offered in accordance with the 7th Central Pay Commission norms:

Selection Process
- The selection will be based on interviews conducted by the Screening and Selection Committees constituted by JIPMER.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview based on their qualifications, experience, and research achievements.
- The final merit list shall be determined solely on the basis of candidates’ performance in the interview process.
