Direct Recruitment for the Posts of Sub-Inspectors of Police – 2025 (Taluk & Armed Reserve)

The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) has officially released the notification for the direct recruitment of Sub-Inspectors of Police (Taluk and Armed Reserve) for the year 2025. This recruitment drive is open to men, women, and transgender candidates. The selection will be conducted through a multi-stage process, including written tests, physical tests, and interviews. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree obtained in the following academic patterns:

  • 10+2+3 / 4 / 5
  • 10+3 (Diploma) + 2 / 3
  • 10+2 (ITI) + 3

Degrees obtained through Open/Distance Learning are acceptable only if they follow the above patterns. Degrees obtained directly without intermediate qualifications like 12th or Diploma are not eligible.

Quota-Based Vacancies

The selection also includes special quotas:

  1. Departmental Quota – 20%
  2. Wards Cum Dependent Quota – 10% of remaining (Executive – 9%, Ministerial – 1%)
  3. Sports Quota – 10% of remaining (Sports – 7%, Meritorious Sports – 3%)

Separate applications must be made for Open and Departmental quotas if applicable.

Eligibility for Wards Cum Dependent Quota

  • Only children (sons/daughters, adopted) of serving/retired/deceased/invalidated Police or Ministerial Staff.
  • Married women are not eligible.
  • Only one ward per family can apply under this quota.
  • The quota is not applicable for children of dismissed/removed personnel.

Eligibility for Sports Quota

  • Candidates must have represented India, State, or University in one of the 16 recognized sports within the last 5 years.
  • Required Certificates:
    • Form-I: International
    • Form-II: National (State-level)
    • Form-III: Inter-University
  • Recognized sports include: Athletics, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Handball, Kabbadi, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Swimming, Equitation, Rifle Shooting, Silambam, Hockey.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination
    • Objective-type test for Open and Departmental categories (date to be announced)
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
    • Height Standards:
      • Men: OC/BC/MBC – 170 cm | SC/ST – 167 cm
      • Women: OC/BC/MBC – 159 cm | SC/ST – 157 cm
    • Chest (Men Only): 81 cm (Normal) + 5 cm expansion
    • Ex-servicemen/CAPF/Military personnel: Exempted from PMT
  3. Endurance Test
    • Men: 1500m run in 7 minutes
    • Women: 400m run in 2.5 minutes
    • Ex-servicemen/CAPF: 1500m run in 8 minutes
  4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
    • 5 events for men and women (100m, 400m runs, long jump, rope climb/shot put, etc.)
    • Each event scored for 0, 2, or 5 marks
    • Total PET Marks: 15

  • Take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
