The Northern Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment against the Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2025-26. This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies in Level 1 (Group D) and Level 2 (Group C) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix.

Application Fees

  • General/OBC Candidates: ₹500 (Non-refundable)
  • SC/ST/Women/Minorities/Economically Backward Candidates: ₹250 (Refundable only if the candidate appears for the exam)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For Level 2 (Group C):
    • 10+2 (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks (relaxed for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen and higher qualification holders).
    • Technical Positions: Candidates must have passed Matriculation along with an ITI qualification (approved by NCVT/SCVT) or should have successfully completed an Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act.
  • For Level 1 (Group D):
    • 10th Pass + ITI/NAC (for Engineering Departments).
    • 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent (for other departments).

Scouts & Guides Qualification (For Both Levels)

  • Must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalaya Wood Badge (HWB) holder.
  • Should have been an active participant in Scouts/Guides activities for a continuous period of the past five years, with supporting certification as specified in Annexure-I.
  • Participation in two National/All India Railway events and two State-level events.

Age Limit

  • Level 2 (Group C):
    • UR: 18-30 years
    • OBC: 18-33 years
    • SC/ST: 18-35 years
  • Level 1 (Group D):
    • UR: 18-33 years
    • OBC: 18-36 years
    • SC/ST: 18-38 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Service period + 3 years
  • PWD Candidates: 10-15 years (varies by category)

Salary Structure (7th CPC Pay Matrix)

  • Level 1 (Group D): Pay Level 1 (₹18,000 – ₹56,900)
  • Level 2 (Group C): Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200)

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination (60 Marks)
    • 40 MCQs (40 Marks) – Scouts & Guides knowledge + General Awareness
    • One descriptive essay (20 marks) focusing on activities related to Scouts and Guides.
    • Negative Marking: ⅓ deduction for wrong answers
  2. Certificate Evaluation (40 Marks)
    • Marks awarded for participation in National, State, and District-level events.
  3. Document Verification (DV)
    • Original certificates must be presented.
  4. Medical Examination
    • Selected candidates must meet Railway medical standards.
